Why Big 5 Construct Kenya Expo
Speaking on the sidelines of the event after its official launch on Wednesday, October 6, Public Works PS Joel Arumonyang said the expo is a perfect opportunity for stakeholders to network with industry leaders and explore innovative solutions shaping the future of construction in Kenya.
“Out of the 150 companies participating in the event, about 25% of them are from Kenya.

The Big 5 Construct Expo, a global event, comes at a time when the government, through the state Department of Public Works, is focusing on addressing several issues related to design, materials, and construction standards through the Building Code 2024,” said Arumonyang.
Big 5 Construct Kenya Expo and climate solutions
The exhibition focuses on climate solutions in construction, where participants chat and share ideas, such as leveraging still structures in construction to avoid tree destruction.
“We are working closely with the Ministry of Environment to ensure our projects are climate resilient and embody the green aspect of the building code,” the PS added.
The PS emphasised the government’s commitment to providing a level playing field for manufacturers and other businesses in Kenya.
On day one of the event, discussions focused on sustainable architecture and green building design, structuring sustainable financing for PPP projects, and integrated project management approaches for affordable housing and sustainable infrastructure in urban informal settlements, among other topics.

What to know about Big 5 Construct Expo
The Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development endorsed the Big 5 Construct Kenya 2024 event.
Construction companies from 25 countries, including China, Egypt, Germany, India, Italy, Türkiye, and the UAE, are attending the exhibition to showcase transformative projects.
The Big 5 Talks, featuring over 20 CPD-certified sessions, allow attendees to earn professional development points while engaging in critical discussions.
