Morara Kebaso Freed on KSh 50k Cash Bail after Failing to Plead to Cyber Harassment Charge

Nairobi – Political activist Morara Kebaso has been released after hours of detention following his arrest.

The DCI officers took him into custody from his office in Kahawa Sukari on Monday, September 30.

Morara was arraigned at Milimani Law Courts, where he faced charges of cyber harassment under Section 27 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act.

He was accused of posting false information about businessman David Langat, claiming that President William Ruto had deceived the former into lending him a significant sum of money with a promise of repayment.

However, the 28-year-old lawyer-turned-activist did not enter a plea, as his lawyers argued the charge was defective.

The court subsequently granted him release on KSh 50,000 cash bail, with the ruling set for October 4.
