A storey building under construction has collapsed in Rongo town, Migori County.
Rongo Sub-County Police Commander Salim Fundi who confirmed the incident said rescue mission was ongoing.
The building collapsed around 3 pm on December 25.
An unknown number of people have been trapped inside the rubbles.
“An excavator has been brought to help rescue those trapped,” Mr. Fundi said.
Migori County Secretary Oscar Olima, who also rushed with the Migori County government’s emergency response team to the scene, said one woman had already been pulled out of the rubble and rushed to Migori County Referral Hospital for treatment.
“Our ambulances and heavy equipment are on site. Our first responders are also there. We are right in the middle of the rescue,” Dr. Olima said.
He said some workers were at the site when the building collapsed.
