However, Osuri stated that after examinations and tests, doctors found an abdominal infection. Obego began treatment as prescribed, but his condition did not improve.
“We, however, realised yesterday very early in the morning that his condition was not improving, and the abdomen continued to swell. However, when we entered a tube through his nose, we were able to remove a lot of pus coming from his abdominal area,” Osuri told NTV.
The presence of pus in Obego’s abdomen led doctors to investigate its cause, prompting them to schedule surgery.
“That is when the surgeons decided to take him for surgery to find out what was causing the pus in his abdomen…unfortunately, that was when we lost him,” Osuri added.

What did Obego’s postmortem report reveal?
Osuri said the family consented to a postmortem on Obego’s body after his death to identify the cause of the pus in his abdomen.
The doctor said the report showed the pus in the clergyman’s abdomen was caused by gut perforations.
“We have since moved the body to the morgue for storage and preservation as burial arrangements are being made,” he added.
