Nairobi – Businessman and philanthropist Moses Mwenda has expressed admiration for a kind gesture from a matatu owner who painted his portrait on his vehicle.
Mwenda, in an interview with TUKO.co.ke, shared that he learned about Wambugu’s act from friends who had seen the vehicle operating on the Westlands-Kasarani-Roysambu route.

Impressed by the tribute, Mwenda set out to find Wambugu, despite not knowing him personally.
“I was informed through calls that a large portrait of me had been painted on a matatu. Those who had seen it even sent me pictures of the vehicle. I felt truly honoured and decided to track down the owner,” he said.
On Wednesday, November 7, during his duties in Westlands, Mwenda finally met the matatu driver and took the opportunity to express his appreciation.
In a generous show of gratitude, Mwenda paid for Wambugu’s entire day of trips and promised to cover the vehicle’s insurance for one year, starting in January 2025.
“I truly felt deeply appreciated, especially since it came from a complete stranger. Since I couldn’t thank him enough, I decided to cover his day’s trips. Moreover, I will take care of the vehicle’s insurance for one year,” he assured.

Why did Wambugu do Mwenda’s portrait on his matatu?
Wambugu explained that his decision to paint the portrait was motivated by Mwenda’s ongoing service to the community, where he is known for extending a helping hand whenever needed.
The matatu owner revealed that although he had seen Mwenda help some of his friends, he never expected his tribute would lead to such a kind gesture from the businessman.
“Your love and support mean so much to me, and I can’t thank you enough for such an amazing gesture. It truly humbles me to know that the little thing I do for the community resonates with you this much. Keep driving with pride, and know that you’ve got my deepest gratitude and support. You’re an awesome great man Ras and may almighty God bless your hustle,” he prayed.
