Homa Bay – Ten teachers from Pala Masogo Secondary School, including a centre manager, were formally charged with leaking the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
Appearing before Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Auka, the suspects denied three counts of examination malpractice.
The teachers were arrested after allegedly photocopying the 2024 KCSE Chemistry paper. They were each granted a bond of KSh 2 million or an alternative cash bail of KSh 1 million.

“I direct that each accused person may be released on a bond of KSh 2 million each and surety of a similar amount or a cash bail of KSh 1 million with one contact person each. I direct that summons be issued to the investigating officer to address the matters raised by the defence on when the accused persons were arrested,” the magistrate said.
Magistrate Auka scheduled the matter to be mentioned on November 20, when a date for their pretrial will be set.
Homa Bay Sub-County Deputy Commissioner Emmanuel Kiplagat assured that authorities would take necessary measures to address the incident and ensure accountability.
