His daughter said she heard someone hitting their window forcefully, and she woke up to check who it was.

“I asked who it was, and the man said, ‘I’m a thief! Stay silent,” she recalled.

The man’s widow said they were seemingly drugged during the burglary as the thug had a substance in his hand that they suspect they inhaled since they could not act.

“We thought it was kerosene but now think it was something to confuse us as we could not defend ourselves even with the pangas or jembes in our bedroom,” the widow said.

The family narrates that after gaining access to the house using an axe, he instantly hacked Kimani before proceeding to demand money and other valuables.

The widow also sustained some injuries during the attack. The man succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
