President William Ruto has joined global leaders in congratulating Donald Trump on his victory in the 2024 U.S. elections.
This comes after Trump secured at least 279 electoral votes by winning key swing states, including Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Wisconsin, while Harris has earned at least 219 votes.
What did Ruto tell Trump?
The head of state took to social media to congratulate Trump on his decisive win in the competitive race to the White House.
“On behalf of the Government and the people of the Republic of Kenya and my own behalf, I convey to Your Excellency my warmest congratulations on your election as the 47th President of the United States of America,” the statement read in part.
He stated that his victory in the presidential election is a clear indication that Americans have confidence in his vision and leadership.

Ruto added that as Trump prepares to assume leadership in the US, Kenya is ready to strengthen ties through cooperation on mutual interests such as trade, investment, technology, innovation, peace, security, and sustainable development.

“Kenya values its longstanding partnership with the United States, which has lasted over sixty years and is grounded in our shared values of democracy, development, and mutual respect. We look forward to deepening our collaboration under your leadership as we work together to address global challenges, promote peace and security, and foster inclusive economic growth for the benefit of our peoples,” Ruto added.
He also wished Trump the best as he embarks on his journey to lead the U.S. to new heights under his leadership.
“Congratulations once again, Mr. President-Elect, and may your tenure bring continued progress and unity to the United States of America and strengthen the bonds between our two great nations. Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration.”
