Racheal Nasimiyu, a student at Siaka Secondary School since Form One, was heartbroken when she learnt that her name was missing from the official examination register.
Nasimiyu’s sister, Phoebe Barasa, told TUKO.co.ke that their father had submitted all necessary documentation for her registration.

“This included a medical assessment from the hospital detailing her autism diagnosis. I can share the documents,” she said.
However, despite these efforts, the school allegedly failed to register her for the national exams, effectively blocking her from participating.
The incident came to light when Nasimiyu’s father learned that his daughter was being kept outside the school gates as her classmates prepared for their exams.
Shocked by this discovery, he confronted school officials and eventually sought assistance from the county’s Director of Education.
Nasimiyu’s father was initially assured that his daughter would be allowed to take her exams.
He was instructed to return to the school on Monday with Racheal, pending the arrival of the county director.
However, after hours of waiting, the family was told that Racheal would instead have to take her exams the following year.

“I’m just wondering how to get justice for my autistic sister despite her fate of not sitting for this year’s national exams,” she lamented.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation, with many questioning how the student was overlooked in such a crucial process.
Disability rights activists and local community members have since called on the Ministry of Education to investigate and ensure accountability.
