Homa Bay – The county government of Homa Bay is in mourning following the death of Pastor Raphael Obego, the county’s principal chaplain.

Governor Gladys Wanga confirmed the news on her social media, remembering Pastor Obego as a compassionate leader whose guidance, unwavering faith, and positivity touched many lives. She prayed that his legacy would continue.
“Today, we are devastated by the passing of our dear friend and County Principal Chaplain Pastor Raphael Obego. Pastor Raphael touched our lives with his compassion, guidance, unwavering faith and positivity. His dedication to serving the county Government and people of Homa Bay will forever be remembered.

The rise of Pastor Raphael Obego
Pastor Obego gained public attention in February 2024 when he left President William Ruto and other officials in stitches during the International Investment Conference in Homa Bay.
The officials could not contain their laughter due to his use of complex vocabulary as he delivered prayers. The cause of his death remains unknown.
SDA pastor returning from church dies
In a separate incident, another pastor tragically passed away hours after being involved in a road crash in Oyugis.
The preacher was returning to Rangwe from church when his motorcycle collided with another coming from Kisii.
His sister told TUKO.co.ke that he was scheduled to officiate his wedding on the day of his death. Known for his dedication to his sermons, he had recently been allocated a district by the conference before completing his studies at Bugema University.
