During a recent match at Kenyatta Stadium, Kevin steward named Samwel retrieved Macharia’s stolen phone amid chaotic scenes.

Kevin Teya records that the incident occurred when police deployed tear gas to disperse a rowdy crowd during a tense moment at the match.

Teya disclosed that the Gor Mahia security steward witnessed the ‘fan’ steal Macharia’s phone while he was struggling to breathe amid the tear gas.

“He quickly apprehended the thief, retrieved my phone, and even charged it to ensure it was functional,” the club chairman recounted.

Macharia added that the steward stayed up until midnight to ensure it was safely returned to him.

The steward’s act of kindness and dedication stands out as an example of integrity and solidarity in Kenyan football.

Macharia urged the public to join him in recognizing the commendable actions, showing that sportsmanship extends beyond the field.

“I ask everyone to join me in appreciating Samwel, the Gor Mahia steward,” Macharia added.

Why were Gor Mahia fans rowdy?

On Saturday, November 2, Gor Mahia, aka K’ogallo, went to Machakos for a league match pitting them against Murang’a Seal.

At halftime, K’ogallo was leading 2-0, but the opponents turned the tables in the second half to end the match in a 2-2 draw.
