Following a fierce confrontation with police, the suspect was neutralised during a pursuit.
How was Willy Ayieko’s prime suspect identified?
Initially known as George Oduor Okoth, his true name has been revealed as Robert Wakolo Okoth, who disguised himself to evade multiple arrests for various criminal offences.
The identification came when Wakolo’s father visited the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital to identify his son’s body.

“The discovery of Oduor’s home in the Rai area of Nyamasaria, Kisumu County, followed the identification of his body at JOOTRH mortuary by his father. He clarified that his son’s real name was Robert Wakolo Okoth, and the alias George Oduor Okoth, as well as Kim, were used to evade police detection,” stated the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The DCI Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau detectives linked the 34-year-old to a series of violent crimes, including the January 27, 2024, fatal shooting of Grace Awino Odero, an M-Pesa attendant at Kibuye Market.
During that incident, one suspect was arrested, and an AK-47 rifle stolen from a Ugandan police officer was recovered, along with a Toyota Axio (Reg. No. KDL 301P) used in the robbery. However, Wakolo escaped.
Additionally, on May 3, 2024, detectives raided Wakolo’s home in Nyamasaria based on intelligence leads, recovering another AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and 36 live rounds of ammunition. Although Wakolo evaded capture, his 17-year-old brother, a suspected accomplice, was arrested and charged.
