He contends that beyond economic difficulties, Ruto is confronted with a significant trust and governance deficit that necessitates a fundamental shift in his leadership approach.

“Ruto hasn’t found the solution to his teetering government and time is running out. The economy isn’t the main problem he faces. Ruto faces a huge trust and governance deficiency that requires a fundamental change in his ruling style or philosophy,” the lawyer stated.

Ahmednasir highlighted Ruto’s attempts to stabilise the nation, including the dismissal of his cabinet and the appointment of ODM leaders to various ministries in response to the Gen Z protests.

“He tried after the riots of June/July and brought a few “experts” from ODM. That reshuffle bought Kenya peace but didn’t change the fortunes of the government with Wanjiku,” Ahmednasir claimed.

However, he expressed that these efforts have not succeeded in convincing the Kenyan public of Ruto’s leadership capabilities.

With the recent appointment of Kithure Kindiki as deputy president and the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua, Ahmednasir believes Ruto now has an opportunity to reorganise his government to regain the trust of Kenyans.

“Another priceless chance for President William Ruto to steady the ship and change the riotous and poisonous mood of Kenyans against his government. With the appointment of Kithure Kindiki behind him and having seen the back of Rigathi Gachagua, President Ruto has another chance to reorganise his wobbly government. Another cosmetic change won’t do,” he stated.
