Kahiga, a chief loyalist to Gachagua, often threatened nasty political consequences to President William Ruto if he allowed Gachagua to be undermined.

He often said that the Mt Kenya electorate would not allow Gachagua to be maltreated as was the case with Ruto when the latter was deputising retired president Uhuru Kenyatta.

The county boss also, more often than not, restated how Gachagua was not appointed to be a deputy president, declaring that he was elected like any other leader and, therefore, deserved respect.

But with the current political reality, Kahiga seems to have loosened up his stance.

“The nation ought to continue moving forward; let us have peace because the nation is bigger than any individual. Ours is to wish the president all the best in everything he does. Let us continue developing our country. But it is good to remind the president. He has now impeached Rigathi Gachagua, where will Nyeri be in this government, because we also gave our votes. The president must now decide and devise how will handle Nyeri,” said Kahiga.
