Kirinyaga: Cheers, Jubilation as Locals Welcome Former DP Rigathi Gachagua for Funeral

Impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is back to business as usual, showing that his removal from office will not deter him.

How was Rigathi welcomed in Kirinyaga?

Rigathi Gachagua, accompanied by his wife Dorcas Rigathi, received a grand welcome from locals who seemed excited by their arrival.

Gachagua’s warm reception at a funeral service in Gichugu, Kirinyaga County, demonstrated that he remains loved by many people.

Upon his arrival at Kiamwathi Anglican Church, where the funeral was held, locals followed Gachagua, singing songs of jubilation.

The locals appeared to encourage Gachagua after his recent impeachment by singing a Kikuyu song titled “Mudu Murathime,” meaning “blessed person.”

They emphasized the main chorus of the song, which conveys the message that a blessed man can never be cursed.
