Nairobi – Impeached deputy president Rigathi Gachagua has made a symbolic change in his public profile, stripping away any traces of his former role as Kenya’s second-in-command.
The former Mathira MP updated his social media cover photos, removing the “Deputy President” title and an image of President William Ruto.
Eagle-eyed followers noticed the absence of the official title and image, once prominently displayed across his platforms, which linked him to his office and role in the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Gachagua’s profiles now feature a more self-examining image of him in a moment of prayer, facing Mt. Kenya.
His bio, once reading “Deputy President of Kenya,” has been simplified to describe him as a devoted father and husband.

Additionally, Gachagua has removed the link to the Office of the Deputy President’s official website, previously used to share government policies and announcements.
Before these updates, Gachagua’s X cover photo captured him speaking at a campaign rally during the 2022 election season, with Ruto by his side, smiling and acknowledging the crowd’s cheers.
