Murunga was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Kimilili from 2013 to 2017 under the Ford Kenya Party.
How did Murunga meet his demise?
According to a report by Citizen Digital, Murunga died on Wednesday, October 30, while receiving treatment at the Nairobi Hospital.
Various national leaders, including National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula, with whom he closely worked in the Ford Kenya Party, have taken to social media to mourn his passing.
Wetang’ula stated that Murunga’s five-year tenure as an MP was characterized by dedication and steadfast commitment to the people he served.
“As a member of Ford Kenya, he not only represented his constituents with integrity but also played a pivotal role as the party’s Director of Elections, contributing significantly to our nation’s political landscape. Rest in peace, Hon. Suleiman Murunga. You will be missed,” Wetangu’la’s message read in part.

He also extended his condolences to the friends and family of the deceased.
Murunga’s successor, current Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, also expressed his sorrow upon learning of Murunga’s death.
“With a heavy heart, I wish to offer my sincere condolences to the people of Kimilili Constituency on the loss of our former member of Parliament, Hon. Suleiman Kasuti Murunga. My deepest sympathies are with his family and friends. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” his statement read.
