The DCI has announced progress in the investigation into the murder of Willis Ayieko, a Wells Fargo human resources manager found dead in a swamp in Siaya county.

The investigative unit reported engaging in a gunfight with the suspects as they attempted to flee.
They later released graphic photos from the scene following their gunfight and pursuit of the suspects. A male accomplice managed to escape, while the female suspect was taken into custody.
How did DCI trace Ayieko’s murder suspects?
In a statement obtained by TUKO.co.ke, the DCI said they received a tip from members of the public reporting that a man and a woman were spotted with a gun in a Toyota Axio at Wagai Trading Centre, Siaya county.

This prompted the police to look into the matter, thus flagging down the suspects’ vehicle. The male driver, however, began shooting at the police while driving towards Luanda.
The high-speed chase concluded at Adder Farm in the Kagilo area, where the suspects’ vehicle lost control and overturned on the left side of the road.
Unfortunately, the driver escaped, leaving behind the female passenger, who was injured and unconscious.
“The woman was taken to a hospital in Yala, but sadly, she succumbed to her injuries hours later,” the DCI statement read in part
During a search of the vehicle, police recovered a pistol loaded with 11 rounds of ammunition, identified as the firearm stolen from Mr. Ayieko.
“Police in Siaya, Gem Wagai sub-county, today recovered a pistol belonging to the late Wells Fargo Human Resource Manager, Mr. Willis Ayieko. This firearm had been robbed from him on the night he was murdered,” DCI added.

The DCI later released graphic photos of the scene following their car chase with the suspects.
Did DCI finally trace the male suspect in Ayieko’s murder?
The investigative unit reported that their search for the fleeing suspect led them to his rented house in Sagam Trading Centre, Kanyibwop village, where they found and confiscated several items including:
- Jungle green sweater & military pair of shorts
- two pairs of desert storm jungle boots
- two TV sets (40″ and 32″)
- HP Laptop
- Rolex watch, among others.
A woman present at the house when police arrived was also taken into custody as investigations continue.
“Investigations into the murder are ongoing. Detectives are meticulously examining all evidence, and forensic teams are conducting thorough analyses to uncover new leads.”
