Veteran lawyer John Khaminwa is one of the oldest and longest-serving senior counsel in Kenya.

In a video shared on TikTok by Tumaini Zip, Khaminwa said he is not yet ready to retire despite being 88 years old.
He said he would continue working as long as necessary because is not on pension and still needs to eat.
“I am not on pension, I still need the money, and the stomach still needs food,” he stated.

Kenyans react to John Khaminwa not retiring
Following his remarks, Kenyans online have expressed mixed reactions with a section supporting his decision to keep working while others question why he should do so at his age.

“Why didn’t he save?” This is going to be me in my 80s at the rate I am missing money. I need to start saving and investing.”

The veteran lawyer explained that he exercises a lot and eats healthy food to keep healthy and reads during his free time to relax.
Moreover, Khaminwa advised the young generation to gain interest in other people’s issues and not limit themselves to their own.
