Tips for job interviews
Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Hillary Lisimba, a resume optimisation expert, advised candidates called for interviews to take sufficient time to prepare for an interview and have a mock interview to polish their responses.
“Do a mock interview if you can find someone to help you. A mock interview is where you have someone ask you the questions you think could come up in the interview, and then you respond to that individual. While doing so, use a formula called STAR (short for Situation, Task, Action, Result) to structure your answers,” Lisimba advised.
He further advised interviewees to ensure that their answers align and reflect experiences and skills in the duties and responsibilities described in the job description.
“Be keen to share as many times as possible instance in your previous jobs when you added value to your previous employer and how you did it. Keep your answers as simple and straightforward as possible. Using too much jargon may make the interviewer see you as too complicated for life,” Lisimba added.
