“I have to work at my age because I still need the money. I have no pension, and the stomach still needs food,” he stated.

The fiery lawyer has been making headlines for his role in the ongoing case challenging the impeachment of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In the case, Dr Khaminwa is representing Kituo cha Sheria, a lobby group that has pocked holes in the process leading to Gachagua’s ouster.

When did Khaminwa start practicing law?

Born in 1936, the lawyer has over 50 years of experience in the legal field. He started practicing law in 1973 and has won several cases throughout his career and featured in numerous high-profile cases in the corridors of justice.

Dr Khaminwa owns a law firm called Khamniwa and Khaminwa Advocates, which he formed alongside his late wife, Joyce Khaminwa.

He is also famous for representing notable figures like Jaramogi Oginga Odinga in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when Kenyans were agitating for political reforms and multi-party democracy.

In addition to his legal practice, Khaminwa is recognized as a champion and defender of human rights.
