Nairobi—Seven judges of the Supreme Court have overturned the verdicts of the High Court and Court of Appeal on the Finance Act 2023.

A total of 52 petitioners, led by litigious activist who is also Busia senator Okiya Omtatah, challenged the finance law, citing the lack of merit on how public participation was conducted in the process of enacting the Finance Bill 2023.
In their ruling, the judges, stewarded by Chief Justice Martha Koome, established that the National Assembly departmental committee on Finance and National Planning duly considered the views of the public in the making of the finance law.
