Nairobi—President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party has announced plans to replace impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as the ruling party’s deputy party leader.

Addressing the press on Tuesday, October 29, UDA Secretary General Hassan Omar said Gachagua will be kicked out of the party leadership once the court gives its verdict on the ongoing impeachment.

According to Omar, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) awaits the court’s decision to suspend Gachagua and appoint Kithure Kindiki as the new deputy party leader.

“Once the process in the courts has been concluded, we will sit down as a party and we make sure that we replace the Deputy Party leader with the new one,” Omar said.

The UDA secretary general further asked Gachagua to settle his political scores outside the courts.

“If he wants to go and regroup himself and re-organise politically we wish him all the best but let us move on,” he added.
