He argues that the key political figures are the Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), who serve as local representatives and remain connected to their constituents alongside governors and senators.

Why are MPs positions not important?

In his remarks, Thang’wa asserted that the responsibilities currently held by MPs, such as vetting presidential appointees and impeachment processes, could be effectively handled by senators.

“From the MCA the next important person is the governor because that is the person who lives with you. Another important person is the senator because they pass national laws with counties in mind. We do not need MPs because what they are doing the Senate can do. The lawmakers only make a lot of noise in the National Assembly,” he stated.

He expressed concern that once elected, many MPs tend to relocate to Nairobi, distancing themselves from the communities they were elected to serve.

Thang’wa further commented on the election process, stating that almost anyone can be elected as president, regardless of their academic background or leadership skills.
