He stated that the impeached deputy president’s case offers the Judiciary a chance to correct injustices rather than continue them.

He argued that while many may view Gachagua’s case as a hindrance, he sees it as an opportunity to uphold constitutional order.

“I know that Kenyans may view it as a challenge to our democracy. I bear a message of hope. I want us to see the proceedings as an opportunity for our governance institutions,” Ongoya said.

Ongoya suggested that, since other bodies failed to prevent Gachagua’s impeachment, it is now up to the Judiciary to make a different decision and bring about change in his case.

“I see this case as an opportunity for the judiciary because of the behaviour of the other organs of government in the recent past. This is an opportunity to correct wrongs and not perpetuate wrongs,” Ongoya said.
