Kipchoge drinks the water and hands the bottle back to his wife, who slows down so that he can continue his race.
She then follows him at a safe distance, keeping him company and facilitating his training needs.
However, Grace’s support of her husband is not new, as she has always been the force behind his success.
She has occasionally admitted to going the extra mile to be there for Kipchoge and ensure his success.
For instance, before the 2022 Berlin Marathon that saw the olympic champion beat his own world record, the mother of three said she prayed and fasted for the seven days leading to the competition.
On several occasions, she has praised her husband as a very humble man who greets everybody in the village.
According to her, Kipchoge doesn’t behave like a person who thinks he made it in life but rather prefers to look like an ordinary citizen.
Kipchoge’s family
The marathoner is married to the love of his life, Grace Sugut, a woman he met in school and who was also his neighbour more than a decade ago.
The two are blessed with three children, two boys and one girl.
