Kiambu Senator Claims Senators Were Paid to Impeach Gachagua: “There Was A lot of Money”

Kiambu senator Karungo Thang’wa has shared intriguing details regarding Rigathi Gachagua’s impeachment proceedings in the Senate on Thursday, October 17.

Was Thang’wa bribed to vote for Gachagua’s ouster?

Speaking on the Obinna Show Live, the Kiambu senator alleged that some senators were paid to support Gachagua’s removal from office.

He asserted that he learned about it when a colleague called him outside the Senate and offered him a bag of money that would be his if he voted to support Gachagua’s impeachment.

He further stated that the money was so much that he couldn’t believe his eyes as he thought of everything he could do with it.

“They were given money, there was a lot of it. I’ve never seen such much money. Don’t you love money? I was called by a colleague, who later took me outside the Senate and opened a bag full of money. I was told that the money would be mine if I voted in support of impeaching Gachagua,” Thang’wa said

However, he said he turned down the offer because it contradicted his principles and beliefs as a leader of the country.

“I believe that If you receive money to do injustice, It will come knocking to you. I am okay with the little I have. So I told the person that I will think about it, but never got back to him,” he added.
