Tharaka Nithi – National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has led Kenya Kanza lawmakers in criticising the impeached Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking in Tharaka Nithi county on Saturday, October 26, the leaders accused Gachagua of spreading division in the country.

In his speech, Wetang’ula urged leaders to sham regional politics, arguing that tribal politics has no place in modern Kenya.

“Where I come from, we have Mt Elgon. As the residents of Mt Elgon, we have never said we come from the mountain,” Wetang’ula said.

Wetang’ula further claimed Gachagua had orchestrated his downfall by being disloyal to his boss, President William Ruto.

“In life there is one currency in politics & that currency is called Loyalty. Loyalty to your cause, loyalty to the people who elected you, loyalty to your boss, loyalty to what you stand for. If you have no loyalty, there is no other currency in politics,” he added.

National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, for his part, slammed Gachagua, accusing him of dividing the country through regional and tribal politics.

“Some people said that if the mountain is touched, it will erupt. Has it erupted? The mountain belongs to all the people of Kenya. This mountain is ours… let’s not have leaders dividing Kenyans along ethnic lines,” Ichung’wah said.
