Drama ensued at the Kisii church as officers struggled to get hold of the driver who had disappeared after blending in with the faithfuls.

Speaking to Mutembei TV, the area police commander stated that the police vehicle chasing the matatu was headed to Kisii Law Courts to transport prisoners whose cases were scheduled for mention that day.

While en route, they encountered a N.Mzalendo Sacco matatu coming from Kisii and heading toward Gesoso area.
The commander noted that upon seeing the police vehicle, the driver made a quick U-turn and proceeded in the wrong lane toward Nyabururu.
He further stated that the driver’s actions piqued the police officers’ curiosity. Eager to understand why the driver changed his route, they began pursuing the matatu.
“The officers wanted to establish what exactly is happening or what is in the vehicle, they began chasing the matatu. The vehicle came straight to this parish and parked where it is currently. We have had a discussion with the Parish father,” the commander said

Upon entering the church premises, the driver alighted the matatu, leaving his passengers onboard, entered the church, and vanished into the congregation.
The parish priest, visibly upset with the police for conducting their chase on church grounds, stated that their actions were entirely unacceptable.
He said that the officers entered the church while Christians were praying and continued their search for the driver among the congregation.
“They were chasing whoever they were chasing in the church. Even after seeing christians praying, they continued to do their operation in the church. We condemn that given act,” the priest said.
