Couple Arrested for Having Marital Act in Catholic Church Premises Speaks: “Prophetess Told Us”

A couple which was arrested for having marital relations on the premises of a Catholic Church has claimed they were ordered to do so by a self-proclaimed prophetess.

The married lovers were found having intimacy in the toilet of St. Peter’s Catholic Parish in Gisoro, Kisoro, Uganda, and were immediately apprehended.

In a report by the Daily Monitor, the couple narrated that the prophetess asked them to act in the toilet of the church premises to cleanse themselves from bad omen.

“The prophetess sent us a message on the phone, telling us that someone had bewitched our family and that we needed prayers. She instructed us to read a verse from Leviticus 15: 25-29 and then go to Gisoro Parish for cleansing,” the man claimed.

He said that once, at the church, the prophetess asked them to go to the toilet and engage in relations to undergo cleansing.

The church leaders have since expressed their disgust with the incident and asked the authorities to ensure the couple faces the full wrath of the law for indecent exposure.

“We are puzzled and appalled by this incident. It is unacceptable behaviour,” a catechist from the church said.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing as the couple remains in custody.
