Yussuf Ahmed: Family Claims Body Found in Lake was Decoy to Delay Case over Missing Wajir MCA

Amos Khaemba, a journalist at TUKO.co.ke, brings over three years of experience covering politics and current affairs in Kenya.

Nairobi – The lawyers representing missing Dela ward MCA, Yussuf Ahmed have claimed that the politician could be alive following a DNA report presented in court by the family pathologist.

Lawyers Danstan Omari and Sam Nyaberi claimed the body found in Lake Yahud could have been a decoy by government agencies to delay the ongoing case over the missing MCA.

According to Omari, the discovery of the body could be a strategy for turning the ongoing probe into an inquest.

Speaking after the hearing of a case in which the family wanted the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja compelled to produce the body of the politician, the two said the state must produce the MCA dead or alive.

“The State announced the body was found on Wajir , the state hired a chopper with the government chemist at, the family also hired a pathologist, the government has not produced their report. In court, they have said they want to continue with the case. We have instructions from the family that they must produce him dead or alive,” Omari said.

The Member of Parliament for Aldas Adan Keynan also called out security agencies for the rising cases of state-sponsored abductions.

“Yusuf is in the hands of his abductors, which is the security apparatus. The abductors are none other than the government security agencies. You know yourselves, why can’t they produce his details, showing his movements before he disappeared? This incident will not silence us. Abductions and illegal summary executions have become the trademark of this republic. They have no place in the modern Kenya, they cannot be an alternative to the rule of law. What the perpetrators don’t know is that we have a new constitution,” Keynan said.
