Amid the ongoing political instability in the country, a recent survey conducted by Infotrak Research has identified the nation’s most influential leaders.

According to the survey, Azimio leader Raila Odinga tops the list with 26% of respondents recognising him as the most influential figure. He is followed by President William Ruto, who garnered 7%, and impeached deputy president Rigathi Gachagua with 6%.

Notably, the Gen Z protests played a significant role in President Ruto’s decision to withdraw the controversial Finance Bill 2024 and dismiss his entire Cabinet, retaining only his deputy and Prime Cabinet Secretary, Musalia Mudavadi.
Civic educator and political activist Morara Kebaso came in next with 4%. Kebaso has gained public attention by exposing stalled government projects and instances of significant government spending on projects yet to be initiated.
Who are the least influential people in Kenya?
Interior Cabinet Secretary and deputy president nominee Kithure Kindiki registered 1% in the Infotrak survey. However, in a separate study by Timely Kenya, Kindiki emerged as the most preferred candidate for the deputy president position, praised for his strong track record.

Other notable figures such as former Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i, Busia senator Okiyah Omtatah, and Nairobi senator Edwin Sifuna were also recognised in the survey, each securing 1% of influence despite their active roles in government.
