Nyeri Family Seeks Help after Baby in India for Crucial Surgery Develops Complications: “Tusaidie”


  • Baby Ronnie was born in February 2024, but sadly started ailing from that time until Kenyans came through for him and he was taken to India
  • In India, Ronnie had two open-heart surgeries which were successful but as he was healing he developed complications and started bleeding from the lungs
  • As his doctors tried to rectify the condition they realised that they needed KSh 650,000 as extra acre for the condition

India: The mother of Baby Ronnie, who was helped by Kenyans, has emotionally asked Kenyans to help them raise KSh 650,000 after he developed complications following two open heart surgeries.

What is pulmonary atresia?

Ronnie is only months old, having been born in February 2024, but before the family could start enjoying their time with the cute angel, he started becoming sick.

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke, Ronnies, mum, said that her child was diagnosed with a condition identified as pulmonary atresia. Pulmonary Atresia is a type of heart defect that a baby is born with and occurs when the pulmonary valve doesn’t form properly.

After Kenyans came through for the jobless couple with two harambees and online fundraisers, he was taken to India.

“Currently, I’m in India with my eight months old son. He was diagnosed with a heart condition called Pulmonary atresia in June, and we needed KSh 3 million to facilitate his medical care,” she said.

What is pulmonary haemorrhage?

“We did two harambees and mobilised money online and arrived in India on October 2. The baby has undergone two open heart surgeries so far, which have been successful, but he has developed a complication called Pulmonary Hemorrhage or lung bleeding,” she disclosed.

“As a result, he has been put on a machine called ECMO, which acts as his lungs as they give them time to heal and remove all the fluids. Now, that machine and extra care is costing us $5000 which is approximately KSh 650,000 and we have tried to raise the money again and it has been so hard since the same people we are asking money for are the ones who supported us a month ago.
