Grief and panic engulfed the Molo Law Courts early this morning following the sudden death of Principal Magistrate Benard Kipyegon Rugut.

The magistrate passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Molo, where nurses made efforts to resuscitate him but were unsuccessful.
How did Magistrate Rugut’s die?
Chief Magistrate Caroline Ocharo, speaking at the hospital, recalled receiving a distress call earlier in the morning.
“I was informed that Principal Magistrate Rugut had developed complications and was vomiting. I rushed to his house and facilitated his immediate transfer to the hospital for urgent medical attention,” she explained.
Despite the swift actions of medics, their efforts to save him were in vain.
“The medics attempted to resuscitate him, but unfortunately, we lost him during the process. It’s a significant loss for this station, as he was a dedicated magistrate who worked with remarkable efficiency,” Ocharo added solemnly.

The Chief Magistrate also confirmed that security agencies have assumed responsibility for the investigation to determine the cause of his death.
“We are leaving no stone unturned, and the authorities are already looking into what could have led to this tragic incident,” she stated.
The body has been transported to the mortuary at St. Joseph Hospital as preparations for his funeral begin.
While mourning Judge Rugut, Chief Justice Koome extended her condolences to his family, including his children and his wife, Purity Koskey, who is also a judge at the Kabarnet Law Courts.
“It is a profound loss to his family, the judiciary, and the community he served with dedication and integrity,” CJ Koome said.
