Nairobi – Former deputy president Rigathi Gachagau has claimed President William Ruto’s government attempted to assassinate him.
Speaking at The Karen Hospital on Sunday, October 20, Gachagua claimed he survived two assassination attempts before his impeachment.
The first incident allegedly happened in Kisumu county on August 30, where undercover security agents allegedly poisoned his food.
“30th August in Kisumu, security officers tried to poison my food. When we were in Kisumu, undercover agents entered my room and bugged it. One of them tried to poison my food but we detected and we escaped the scheme,” Gachagua stated.
The second incident happened in Nyeri county, where officers from the National Intelligence Service tried to poison his food.

According to Gachagua, the impeachment motion was Ruto’s last card after the failed assassination attempts.
“”On September 3, another team from the National Intelligence Service came to Nyeri and tried to poison food that was meant for me and the Kikuyu council of elders.
“I did report this matter to the NIS and asked the officers assigned to my office to leave because I felt I was not safe. After the two assassination attempts failed, it is when this impeachment motion was hatched,” Gachagua said.
