Gachagua was taken ill and admitted to the facility, where he was diagnosed with chest pains.
Speaking to the press, Gikonyo said all the necessary tests had been undertaken to establish he was out of danger.
He said Gachagua would be confined to the hospital bed for between 48 and 72 hours to have him properly checked and his condition monitored before he can be discharged.

Gikonyo suggested that the deputy president had shown signs of takotsubo syndrome, but the fact that he does not smoke would make it easy for the condition to be contained.
“He came with chest pains, and our first concern was whether it had to do with the heart. Ours was to make sure, as an adult, you don’t have a heart attack,” said Gikonyo.
Gikonyo’s report came moments after James Orengo, the lead counsel in the National Assembly’s defence team, cast doubt on the claims that Gachagua had been taken ill.
Why Orengo was not convinced Gachagua was sick
Orengo said Gachagua’s defence team had not tabled any document to support the sickness claim.
He added that the deputy president appeared physically well during the morning session and that Gachagua had taken himself to the hospital.
The lawyer concluded that Gachagua’s situation was opportunistic and that he intended to use it to evade the trial.
