Rigathi Gachagua Impeachment: Kenyans React As DP Goes Missing During Trial


A rather tense moment has been experienced at the Senate today after the Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua went missing during his trial at the Senate.

Gachagua arrived at the Senate for the second day of his impeachment trial proceedings in the morning.

His fate hangs in the balance as the Senate was preparing to deliver its verdict on whether he will retain his seat or lose it.

When did Gachagua go missing?

After the one-hour, thirty-minute break in the afternoon session, Gachagua was expected to take the stand and present his evidence to refute the impeachment motion against him.

However, when the Senate reconvened, the deputy president was notably absent, raising questions among the senators.

“We are anxiously waiting for the DP. My colleagues can stand in for me as I make inquiries where he is held up,” Muite said

However, shortly after, Paul Muite, one of the lawyers representing Gachagua in the impeachment trial, informed the Senate that the deputy president had fallen ill.
