Rigathi Gachagua Addresses Looming Impeachment by Senate: “Kuna Mungu Mbinguni”

Embu – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again downplayed his looming impeachment by the Senate.

During a church service in Embu County on Sunday, October 13, the embattled second in command said he was not worried about his ongoing tribulations.

Gachagua, recently impeached by MPs and awaiting a decision from the Senate, said he has hopes that God will see him through his troubles.

While finding solace in the Bible, Gachagua said that humans can plan evil things about themselves, but God is their defender.

“Everything that is going on in Kenya. Don’t worry; there’s a God in heaven. We are believers, and we trust God, and God will do His will. Human beings can plan many things, but there’s a God in heaven,” Gachagua said.

While criticising lawmakers’ move to impeach him, the embattled deputy president questioned the wisdom of MPs ousting him despite being elected by millions of Kenyans.

Gachagua expressed confidence that Kenya’s judiciary would protect the will of the people who elected him for a five-year term.

“We were elected by many people. I don’t know if it’s possible for us to be chosen by many and then end up being few; that’s really unfair. We have faith in our courts, and I am certain that our judges will protect and uphold the Constitution and ensure the will of the people prevails. And that is how a country runs,” Gachagua stated.

The second in command further urged Kenyans across the country to maintain peace regardless of the outcome of his case.

“Whatever happens, I ask for peace in Embu and all of Kenya. This is the only country we have. Let’s love each other and continue working together, as that is what truly matters,” the DP added.
