The 17-year-old, who was preparing for his KCSE examination, sustained serious injuries, as shown in images shared by Citizen Digital, and has developed psychological trauma that now makes him fearful of returning to school.
“They beat me for more than one hour. They beat me on the ribs with their belts and and a buckle hit my eyes. The prefects included those of the dining hall, dorm captain, and other prefects,” the boy recounted.
What action did Kaaga Boys victim’s mother take?
Lilian Nyabuto, the victim’s mother, received a call from a stranger regarding her son and asked them to take him to Meru Police Station, where the incident was reported on June 6 under OB.15/6/6/2024.
The police confirmed the matter is under investigation, but progress has been lacking, leaving Nyabuto in the dark. Despite contacting the Ministry of Education for help, she has not received any response.

“It was horrible. He was traumatised and he did not know what would have happened to him. He was the victim, yet he’s at home while those who attacked him remain in school. I can’t believe this happened at school. The school has let me down. I’ve sought assistance from the Ministry of Education without any resolution,” she lamented.
What do medical results show?
Medical reports indicate the student suffered serious injuries to his limbs, chest, and eye due to the assault.
He experienced swelling, tenderness, and blurred vision in his injured eye, as well as bruises on his lower limbs. The doctor noted that blunt objects, punches, and kicks likely caused the injuries.
According to the distraught mother, the school principal tried to persuade her son to lie about the cause of his injuries.
“He wanted him to say that he was pricked by a thorn in the eye while jumping over the fence,” she claimed.
