The burial of 11 identified bodies of Goma residents killed after the ferry “MV MERDI” capsized on Lake Kivu a week ago took place at the Makao cemetery.
There was a traffic snarl-up as vehicles carried the casket of the victims and their crosses during the heartbreaking moment.
The ambulances also had pictures of the victims of the accident, and pallbearers, wearing surgical masks, escorted the cars, according to The New Times Rwanda.

They later carried the coffins from the cars, putting them on their shoulders, and walked with them to where a funeral service was held.
Many who witnessed the scene were in tears, expressing their heartfelt brokenness following the tragic event that claimed the lives of many.
Others needed support as they walked, overwhelmed with grief during the heartbreaking moment.

The graves were next to each other, and many witnessed in tears as the coffins were lowered to the ground.
Bus from Nairobi plunges into Indian Ocean
Separately, a public service vehicle (PSV) bus lost control and plunged into the Indian Ocean at the Likoni Ferry crossing channel.
In the Sunday, October 6, incident, the Chania Executive Bus Company bus plunged into the Indian Ocean with passengers aboard.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the bus, registration number KCF 236, was heading to Nairobi from Ukunda and lost control before overturning.
Eyewitnesses said the bus lost its brakes after crossing the channel, careening backwards and colliding with a ferry.
