Why have the two political leaders been arrested?
The DCI announced that the two leaders were arrested for not responding to court summons related to the clashes in their regions.
“It is true we have arrested Tana River Governor and Galole MP Said Hiribae. The two politicians were summoned to our offices over the ongoing clashes in Tana River but they failed to honor summons,” said DCI boss Amin Mohammed.
According to a report by Nation, MP Golale was the first to be arrested, while the governor surrendered shortly after.
The Tana River area has become so insecure that the government has declared Bangale and Tana North sub-counties in Tana River Counties unsafe.
