Newly appointed Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi has pledged his loyalty to President William Ruto, even beyond the 2027 general election.
Why will Wandayi support Ruto?
Speaking on Friday, October 11, Wandayi stated that he was once in the opposition but realized that the country is more important than being aligned with a single political party.
“When His Excellency the President invited me to join his Cabinet, I quickly agreed to the proposal. This is because he had decided to form a government that unites the country,” Wandayi said.
Wandayi, who was known to be a staunch supporter of the ODM party affiliated with the opposition, asserted that his relationship with the head of state is enduring and will continue even after the next general elections.

He stated that it is the citizens’ responsibility to support the government and ensure its continued strength by backing William Ruto.
“We have joined forces with the president fully and not in a partial way. We are inside the government, and the government is now firm,” Wandayi added.
