Microsoft Research Africa, Nairobi – Internship Opportunity: Machine Learning Research Intern
Interns will participate in a project focused on adapting and fine-tuning Small Language Models (SLMs) for region-specific languages in agriculture across Kenya and India. The work involves multilingual and multimodal tasks such as benchmarking SLM performance, developing algorithms to enhance efficiency, and building Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-to-Speech (TTS) models for local languages. This internship will involve collaboration with researchers, applied scientists, designers, and machine learning engineers within Microsoft Research.
