NYS dismisses claims linking its vehicles to Saba Saba protests

The National Youth Service (NYS) has firmly denied claims that its vehicles were used to transport individuals allegedly involved in criminal activities during the recent Saba Saba demonstrations in Naivasha.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the agency described the allegations circulating on various media platforms as “false and misleading.”

“The National Youth Service wishes to clarify categorically and strongly dispute the false and misleading allegations,” the statement read.

NYS clarified that no vehicle had been deployed to Naivasha during the period in question, except for official duties that were unrelated to the protests.

The agency also underlined that all its personnel operate under strict command and accountability protocols.

“NYS personnel operate under strict command and accountability procedures. Movement of all NYS assets, including vehicles, is documented and subject to verification at any given time,” the statement added.

The institution reiterated its apolitical stance, stating it has never participated in partisan or unlawful activities.

It termed any attempt to link it to such acts as a “grave misrepresentation” of its values.

“Any attempt to associate NYS with criminal or politically instigated actions is a grave misrepresentation of our core values,” the agency said.
