Suna East MP Junet Mohammed has criticized Kenyans advocating for the ousting of President William Ruto alongside Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua through the slogan “Kufa makanga kufa dereva.”
What did Junet say about Ruto-Gachagua impeachment?
In a speech before the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 8, Junet stated that the country’s leader (Ruto) cannot be removed because parliament has not received an impeachment petition against him.
He added that the leader is responsible for over 50 million Kenyans, who cannot be allowed to suffer if he is removed.
“…But the Makanga (Gachagua) who is just hanging at the door of the matatu can go home,” Junet said.
The MP argued that if the deputy president is not performing his duties properly, he should impeached and go home.

“The easier one to go first is the makanga because he should be the one telling the driver what to do,” he said.
Junet added that there has never been a petition to impeach President William Ruto in Parliament, so he cannot be removed alongside his deputy Gachagua, for whom a petition has been filed.
