Eldoret: Kind University student shops for boy hawkin soap, promises to visit mum with newborn


  • Beneks Val shared that she saw young Josephat selling soap in Eldoret town, and when she approached him, he said that the only thing he could ask was KSh 2500 for school fees
  • The University of Eldoret student told the boy from Huruma Primary that she could only afford KSh 1000 for the boy, and he said that she could use it for food and books
  • The young man also revealed that she comes from a family of seven, and his mum had a newborn so he helps her out by selling on weekends and holidays

A young boy who was selling liquid soap in the streets of Eldoret went home with shopping from a supermarket thanks to a kind University of Eldoret student, who came to his help.

In a video shared by Beneks Val on TikTok, the girl said that she was walking in the city when she saw the boy selling soap, and no one had bought any of it.

How much did Beneks spend on shopping?

“It was a Sunday when I saw him selling soap on the streets so I apprioacched him. When I talked to him he told me please pay fees for me, it is only KSh 2500,” Beneks told TUKO.co.ke.

“I learnt that he goes to school at Huruma Primary School and is, therefore, a candidate. I told him I didn’t have the KSh 2500, but I could afford some shopping for him. We went, and I and I bought him some shopping,” she added.

The video shows the two of them in a supermarket buying a modest shopping of some unga,rice and soap for the house.

Kitale lady moved by by sniffing glue

In another story, Martha Waithera was moved by the situation of 16-year-old Lucky Sabila whom she found sniffing glue and begging for money in the streets of Kitale.

After engaging him for a while she agreed to take him back to a deejaying academy where she offered to pay for his fees and food.

She said she saw a bright future in the boy and her gut could not allow her to leave him in the streets, promising to support him until he becomes independent.

Waithera disclosed that some of her TikTok followers gave her some contributions which she used to get a house and beddings for the boy who she is referring to as her son.
