Wamalwa’s DAP-K raises alarm over IEBC leaks, foreign policy silence

The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) has criticised the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to update the country on the status of foreign policy and the outcomes of bilateral agreements signed by President William Ruto.

Led by Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa, DAP-K questioned initiatives by President Ruto, including recent high-profile trips by the president, urging the government to provide transparency on foreign relations

“The president made a state visit to the US and signed bilateral agreements aimed at improving diplomatic relations, and a year later, he is on another foreign trip to China,’’ said Wamalwa.

State parastatals

The party also announced plans to challenge what it termed the ‘unprocedural’ auction of state parastatals, including the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), and the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).

DAP-K vowed to pursue legal action to halt the process and reverse any transactions.

‘’We warn those who are executing unprocedural procurement processes, including so-called investors of these strategic assets, that we will use judicial mechanisms to stop them,’’ he said

The Eugene Wamalwa-led Party further expressed concern over the ongoing recruitment of commissioners to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), accusing the Kenya Kwanza administration of attempting to influence the process.

‘’We are surprised that there are already leaks on which candidates are preferred for the chairperson position, even before the selection panel concludes the process. Who is this person who already knows the preferred chairperson?” Wamalwa posed.
