What Cleophas Malala wanted impeachment proceedings stopped
On Monday, October 7, former UDA party secretary general Cleophas Malala moved to court seeking orders to halt the impeachment proceedings.

In his petition, Malala argued that the composition of both the Senate and the National Assembly violated constitutional gender rules, as outlined in Articles 27(8) and 81(b) of the Kenyan Constitution, which mandate that no more than two-thirds of elective bodies be composed of the same gender.
However, High Court judge Bahati Mwamuye declined to grant interim orders, stopping the impeachment proceedings.
Meanwhile, Parliament asked the court to consolidate 19 separate cases filed by Gachagua’s allies aiming at stopping the impeachment.
