Murang’a: Grief as Grade 8 Pupil Drowns while Fishing in Water Pan

Murang’a – Grief has engulfed Mbogoini village in Kahumbu ward, Murang’a county, following the untimely death of a Grade 8 pupil.

On Sunday, October 6, the Grade 8 pupil was trying to fish in a water pan when he slipped and drowned.

A few hindrances delayed efforts to recover his body, but collaboration with various stakeholders led to the retrieval of the body.

Sharing the sad news, Murang’a woman representative Betty Maina disclosed that her office deployed private divers who helped in retrieving the pupil’s body.

The woman representative sent her condolence message to the young boy’s family and his schoolmates.

“My office received an emergency call from Kigumo constituency Kahumbu ward, Mbogoini village, where a class 8 child fell in a dam. Residents tried to retrieve the body and reaching out to the emergency rescue team without success.

My office has managed to deploy private divers who have retrieved the body. My heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, schoolmates, and all loved ones,” Maina said.

Kigumo Member of Parliament Joseph Kamau Munyoro also sent out his heartfelt condolences to the boy’s family.

“We thank God the body has been retrieved, may the young boy’s soul rest in peace,” Munyoro said.

How a Grade 2 pupil died in Trans Nzoia county

Elsewhere, grief and sorrow engulfed the Cherangany area in Trans Nzoia county following the death of a Grade Two pupil.

A pupil at Kuriot Primary School drowned while swimming in a seasonal river on Sunday, September 15.

Chepsiror said the body of the child had been retrieved and taken to a mortuary awaiting a postmortem.

The local administrator disclosed that the area had many children loitering because they had been neglected by their parents.
