President of the Kenya Judo Association (KJA), Shadrack Maluki and Chair of the African Judo Union, has officially declared his candidacy for the presidency of the National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOC-K) ahead of the elections scheduled for 24 April.
His manifesto centres on athlete leadership and aims to foster a more inclusive and prosperous Olympic movement in the country.
Maluki, who has served as the NOC-K First Vice President for two terms under outgoing President Paul Tergat, advocates for a holistic approach to athlete development, focusing on their physical, mental, and personal well-being.
Maluki promised to collaborate with key stakeholders, including the government to refurbish and develop sports facilities with particular attention to the revitalisation of City Park Stadium.
His leadership plans also include supporting athletes’ health, performance, and overall well-being by providing wellness resources, mental health support and leveraging technology for improved sports management.
“We will be open to communication and collaboration, and we will embrace technology to strengthen the management of sports in the country,” said Maluki.
Maluki’s team features notable figures, including Barnaba Korir of Athletics Kenya as the candidate for First Deputy President, Nashon Randiek of hockey for Second Deputy President, and Andrew Mudibo of the Kenya Table Tennis Association for Secretary General, among others.
He will face off against the current NOC-K Secretary General, Francis Mutuku, who has also declared his candidacy for the presidency.
